Introducing AI for WordPress: Elementor AI

Benefits of creating content with AI

Using AI to create or edit your content has a lot of benefits, that just grow every day as this technology and industry rapidly advance and change. Hera are a few big benefits to creating with AI for you to consider:

  • Faster & Easier Workflow. Save time and effort by having AI do the heavy lifting for you. You no longer have to spend hours at your computer researching, brainstorming, rewriting– AI can do all of those things for you in a fraction of the time.
  • Create Quality Content. AI can check for spelling & grammatical errors, optimize content for specific keywords, and keep all your content in a consistent voice and tone that targets your specific audience.
  • Increased Productivity. By automating tasks that used to take you a significant amount of time, you can now focus on other areas of your business and continue to grow.

What Elementor AI Can Do

Here’s an (ever-growing) list of what you can do with Elementor AI:

  • Generate text – write page titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, SEO descriptions, etc. Save yourself SO MUCH time by having AI write your content for you.
  • Edit text – check the spelling and grammar, make your content shorter, longer, easier-to-read, more comprehensive, casual, instructive, whatever your heart desires. Just tell the AI what you want.
  • Translate content – translate your content into 25 languages with the click of a button.
  • Create new images – tell the AI what type of image you want and it will immediately generate custom images that match your description for you to choose from.
  • Modify images – change your images in new ways, add filters, change the dimensions, and more. Again, all you have to do it tell the AI how you want the image to change.
  • Write custom CSS – want to style your website elements and change your website’s appearance in new ways, but don’t know how to code? Elementor AI can write the CSS for you.
  • Write custom HTML & JavaScript – tell the AI what new code you want and it will generate it for you, from adding Analytics snippets to creating fully customized new elements.

Limitations of Elementor AI

Although Elementor AI is a very impressive tool that is quickly and continually getting better, it has to be said that it is still in beta and there are some limitations to it that you should be aware of.

  • AI generated code can be inaccurate or have errors. You’ll want to check any HTML or JavaScript code carefully, as it may not work properly and that can sometimes create other issues on your web page. Make sure to backup your work before implementing any AI generated code.
  • Limited translation options. While Elementor AI can translate into many of the world’s most widely used languages, if you need your content translated into a lesser-used language then AI can probably not assist (yet).
  • Only basic customization. If you need a high degree of customization to your code or your styles, then you will likely still need an expert (for now).
  • Image weight & quality. The images that the AI creates are large and should be further optimized for best performance. Humans generated in the AI images (their hands in particular) are also not great yet, so make sure to double check them before using the image in your content.
  • Some features behind paywall. As longs as you have Elementor (free or Pro) installed on your WordPress site, you can try Elementor AI out for free for a month. After the trial period you will need to pay for Elementor AI and some features are only available to Elementor Pro users.

How to Use Elementor AI

Using Elementor AI is very easy! However, you first need to have Elementor installed on your site.

Elementor is a plugin. There is a free version and a Pro version that has additional features. We do recommend using the Pro version, as the additional features are very helpful, and it also means you can have access to all the new Elementor AI tools.

Elementor works with almost any theme, but the Hello Elementor theme is specifically designed to go with the Elementor plugin, so it’s a good idea to use that as well.

Once you have Elementor on your website, using Elementor AI is very simple.

  1. Create a new post or page and click “Edit with Elementor” to open the Elementor builder.
  2. Add an element to the page. Elementor is drag and drop, so just click the element you want in the left-side builder menu and drag it on to the page where you want it.
  3. Elements that support Elementor AI include (but aren’t limited to) Headings, Text Editor, Buttons, Images, and HTML. Any time you see the 3 stars icon (AI sparkles icon) you can use AI.
  4. Click the AI sparkles icon icon and it will open the Elementor AI box. The first time you use it you may be prompted to log in (or create) an Elementor account and connect it to your site.

Read on for specifics on how to create and edit text, generate new images, and prompt the AI for custom CSS or HTML!

How to Generate & Edit Text

After you’ve added a text-based element, like a heading, text editor, or button, you’ll be able to edit that element. Above the text entry box there’s a AI sparkles icon icon to “Write with AI.” Click the button and it will open the AI prompt box.

The AI prompt box will give you some suggestions or ideas on the types of prompts it can use. Select one of the suggestions or write your own, then click “Generate Text.” It will give you a text blurb based on your prompt. At this point it will also give you some ways you can further edit the text, like change the tone, check for spelling or grammar errors, shorten or lengthen the text, etc.

Once you have a version of the text that you like click “Insert Text” and it will add it to your element. You can always click the AI sparkles icon icon again to further edit the text.

After you’ve written your prompt click ‘Generate Text’

How to Generate Images

Creating AI images is very similar to creating text with AI. After you’ve added an image element to the page, click the AI sparkles icon icon to open the AI image prompter.

All you need to do is write a description of the image you’d like to create. (Click the wand icon if you need AI to help you write your description.) The more descriptive your prompt is, the better your images will be. Then choose the image type and aspect ratio you’d like from the dropdowns, and click “Generate Images.”

Elementor AI will give you several images to choose from. You can either edit your prompt and generate new images, or select an image that you like and click “Use Image” to add it to your page.

The image generator is able to create many very impressive images– especially inanimate objects and scenery, but we will note that so far the humans in the images leave something to be desired. Faces tend to be pretty good, but bodies, especially hands, need significant work. So make sure to double check your images before using them!

How to Edit Images

Once you have an image added to your content, you can also use Elementor AI to edit the image. This can be an image you uploaded to the content, or one that you generated with AI.

Click the image in your page layout, then click that AI sparkles icon icon again to re-open the AI image generator. The generator will look a little different when you’re editing an image instead of creating one. It will give you several edit options, like “Expand Image,” which will auto-fill content on the side of your image to make it larger, “Generative Fill,” which can add new content into the area of an image that you select, “Resize,” which lets you make an image larger without losing picture resolution, “Remove Background,” which gives you a cutout of a single part of your image, and “Replace Background,” which can replace the content of the background of your image, and “Variants,” which will create similar (but different) versions of your image.

How to Create Custom Code

Elementor AI can also write you custom code. This can be helpful to create content that Elementor doesn’t already have element blocks for, or if you need some unique functionality.

Keep in mind that the AI code generation is the most experimental of all the AI capabilities, so be mindful that you may need to further edit the AI generated code, or use with caution. Always backup your site before using AI code.

To add AI code, first add a Code element to your content. Then, once again, just click the AI sparkles icon icon. Describe what you need your custom code to do. The AI will have some example prompts that you can use, or you can write your own. Click “Generate Code.”

Double check the code it writes for you. You may need to make some edits to it in order for it to be just right. Once you’re happy with it, click “Insert.”
